Anime Connections
Sixteen anime characters, four hidden series. Group them four by four before you run out of mistakes, a fresh Connections puzzle every day. No account, no sign-up, just the game.
How to play
The grid holds sixteen anime characters drawn from four different series. Your job is to sort them into those four groups of four. Tap four characters you believe share an anime and hit submit. Get a group right and it locks in with its colour; get it wrong and you lose one of your four mistakes. Clear all four groups to win.
A new puzzle every day
Everyone plays the same sixteen characters each day, resetting at midnight UTC, so you can compare with friends. When you finish, share the colour grid, it shows the order you cracked the groups in, spoiler-free, just like Wordle.
Tips
- Start with the characters you are most sure about and build a group around them.
- Watch for red herrings: a character may look like they fit two series.
- The yellow group is usually the most popular anime; purple is the trickiest.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play Anime Connections?+
You get a grid of 16 anime characters that secretly belong to four different anime, four characters each. Select four you think share a series and submit. Find all four groups before you make four mistakes.
What do the colours mean?+
Each solved group gets a colour by difficulty: yellow is the easiest (most popular anime), then green, blue and purple for the trickiest. The colours only appear once you solve or reveal a group.
Is it the same puzzle for everyone?+
Yes. The 16 characters and their four groups are the same for every player each day and reset at midnight UTC, so you can compare results and share your colour grid like Wordle or NYT Connections.
How many mistakes can I make?+
Four. Each group of four you submit incorrectly costs one mistake; on the fourth mistake the game ends and the remaining groups are revealed. A "one away" hint tells you when three of your four picks share a series.
How is this different from the other games?+
Instead of naming a single answer, Connections is about spotting which characters belong together. It rewards knowing casts across many anime rather than one deep series.
